“When I was very young and living in East Germany, Christmas in our family began four weeks before Christmas Eve with the beginning of Advent. We made a fresh cut wreath from a fur or a spruce and put four candles on top of it and placed it on our kitchen table. On the fourth Sunday before Christmas, we lit the first candle. For the last three years some of you joined me on my "Advent Journey". You can check it out in my December 2013, 2014 and 2015 posts. My reason for doing this is to dedicate some time out of the hectic days of the Christmas season for devotions and reflection on the meaning of the season. My son is going to be 2 in January and we started the book advent for him this year:) we are doing all kinds of books not just Christmas ones and he can pick a new one everyday the first one we have decided will always be the elf on the shelf though ?
